How Pampañguena Cafe Came To Be

In June 2005, Pampangueña Cafe opened its doors so customers may taste the delicious and well-known dishes of Pampanga, the "Culinary Center of the Philippines."

Pampangueña Cafe started with "Kong Ramon" ("kong" is the short term for "koyang," Pampango word for "kuya" or "older brother"). Ramon Enriquez, together with his sisters Marlyn Bartolo and Nancy Siaobungco, manage the cafe / restaurant and ensure strict food quality standards and excellent customer service. When you dine in Pampangueña Cafe, be ready for a hearty Capampangan treat.

In his quest for success, Ramon traveled to Germany as an 18-year old overseas Filipino worker back in 1978. At that time, he did not know how to cook at all. With on-the-job training in the U.S. Embassy in Germany and Cochieze Restaurant (an exclusive French restaurant), Ramon eventually mastered preparing and cooking European and Filipino food. Ramon worked for ambassadors who would have head of nations, dignitaries and celebrities as guests.

With good fortune and blessings, Ramon migrated to the U.S. He is married to his loving wife, Vie, and has four beautiful children, Ace, Bjorn, Cheryl and Dee Jay.

Coming from a family that has always been in the food service business, Ramon decided to put up Pampangueña Cafe in Derwood, Maryland, bringing you the best flavors of the Philippines, just like home.
